Luisa Liussi was born in Italy, in the region of Friuli.
In 1958 she and her family migrated to Australia.
Italian tradition is still prominent in her life and that of her close-knit family.
Luisa began to draw in 1998 after she had been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue.
Drawing "aspects of myself became a natural passive way of expressing how I was feeling".
Luisa began to draw on A4 paper, sometimes by candelight and always without expectation, enjoying the allowing medium of pastels which blur the edges.
Luisa feels she draws best in moments of reflection on aspects of the spiritual and draws mainly women.
" As hard as I tried I was rarely able to keep out the touch of Ave Maria in my drawings! Perhaps a residue of Catholic schooling. Now I like it, I would say my ponderings are mostly about expressing the quietness of living those simple moments poised at the spaces between all one's doings. "
